Corridor X Update

I went to the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newest section of I-22 inWalker County a couple of weeks ago. It was awfully cold, but the weather was beautiful and it really showed how pretty that part of the state is. It's going to be difficult to keep the billboard pushers out of there, but most of the folks I talked to don't really want them. They just seem to be stuck in this contradictory position of thinking that billboards will attract people to their businesses and towns, but knowing that those same billboards will basically turn their community into "just another interchange" and not give travelers a real reason to stop. What's really needed is a whole marketing plan for the region. We're working on that.

In the meantime, here are two letters to the editor, one from me and one from Kelly Tinker, about how important it is to keep this roadway scenic.
